Meet Dr. G

Faith-based Counselor and Trauma-Informed Educator

Character: Dr. Brittany Guisintanner (Dr. G) is an innovator, leader, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. She is a native of Brooklyn, NY and currently resides in Atlanta, GA. She is the founder and CEO of Infinitely Healed Services, Sentient and Brave Retreats, as well as Empowered by Love goods. Dr. G is a follower of Jesus Christ and honors him and her calling within her businesses. Dr. G considers herself a virtuous woman who teaches by being. She strives to be a representation of black excellence. Her professional core values are respect, integrity, collaboration, safety, empowerment, and compassion. She stands for and promotes unity, peace, purpose, unconditional love, generational wealth, and legacy. Dr. G uses her biblical and educational wisdom, along with life experiences to encourage and inspire the individuals she works with.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling across countries, singing, dancing, hiking, reading, writing songs and poetry, as well as spending time with family and friends. Dr. G is intentional about living a well-balanced life, full of peace and optimal health. Her primary goal is to continue serving humanity with humility, style, and grace.

 

Educational background:

Dr. G earned her doctorate of social work with a specialty in education and leadership from the University of St. Thomas. She obtained her master’s degree in social work from the University at Buffalo, where she specialized in individual, couples, and family therapy. Additionally, Dr. G holds a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in sociology from Buffalo State College, as well as, has an associates degree in human services from Genesee Community College. She is a trained play therapist and has extensive training in providing trauma-informed care.

Dr. G facilitates support, processing, mindfulness, grief and loss, and relationship development groups. She has also served as a mentor to girl’s and women’s basketball teams for over 7 years.

In January of 2019, Dr. G began her professorate career when she accepted roles as an adjunct professor in the school of social work at her alumni campuses, Buffalo State College and Genesee Community College.

The theoretical frameworks that guides her practice are trauma-informed perspective, biosocial theory, ecological systems theory, post-traumatic growth theory, and transpersonal theory. The counseling techniques she uses to guide her practice are Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-focused brief therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-based stress reduction.
